Oval Carriage Clock by Duverdrey and Bloquel
Oval Carriage Clock by Duverdrey and Bloquel
A beautiful oval brass carriage clock by Duverdrey & Bloquel - circa 1920
Duverdrey & Bloquel had its origins in a firm founded in 1867 by Albert Villon in Saint-Nicolas-d'Aliermont, near Dieppe, one of the most prolific towns for the production of carriage clock blanc roulants at this time, with their factory becoming the largest in the area.
On Villon's death in 1910, Joseph Bloquel joined the company, which then became Duverdrey & Bloquel when a partnership with Paul Duverdry was formed, who had become a director of the firm in 1887.
The clock has an 8 day movement with a platform escapement, original dial and hands.
The enamelled dial has a small crack on the top left hand corner but is not noticeable unless looked for.
The movement has been fully serviced and the case polished and lacquered.
