Here we have an exquisite oak mantel clock, with French movement, striking via a bell on the half hour.

The French movement, made by Richard and Co, dates from the late 1800s. R & Co opened a shop in Cannon St in 1867 but it had closed by 1881. The movement has been stripped, cleaned and worn pivots/bearings replaced. The mainsprings were found to be dry and fractured, therefore these have also been replaced.

The enamel dial has been cleaned, there is some minor chipping around the winding holes but apart from that is in very good condition.

The oak case has been cleaned and polished.

The bezel and pendulum have been polished, and the bezel lacquered.

This is an exceptional example of a R&Co clock.
